Dealbreaker: An Adult Who’s Obsessed With Disney

Dear Kids: We're Not Going to Disney World. Period. | Bunmi Laditan

image My parents took us to Disney World when I was a kid and of course I had a great time. But I also used to think All That was a funny show and that being a JV cheerleader was the only important thing in life. Not everything you did when you were a kid is fun as an adult. Isnt the happiest place on Earth supposed to be that way for kids? Now, I enjoy Disney movies as much as the next person. I own both Frozen and Brave on DVD. But Im a 32-year-old woman and I know those characters in the Magic Kingdom arent really Elsa and Merida theyre just college kids in costumes. I dont have any desire to get their autographs or take a photo together. As an adult, I alsothink a lot of Disney movies are sexist, and I hate the idea that every girl is supposed to want to be a princess.

image Disney Resort hotel guests can reserve FastPass+ tickets up to 60 days in advance, while all other ticket holders can do so 30 days in advance. FastPass+ reservations can be made using the My Disney Experience planning page or mobile app . After creating an account and linking their reservation, users can secure FastPass+ tickets for their favorite attractions. If you don't buy park tickets until you arrive at Disney World, or need to change your FastPass+ reservations, you can do so in two ways. Each park has a number of FastPass+ kiosks where you can make or change your reservations. Beware, the lines for these kiosks can be long. If you can, download the mobile app, which makes it possible to make and change reservations on the go, eliminating yet another line. FastPass+ experiences work the same way as the legacy system. Each FastPass+ comes with a window of time you will be allowed to enter the ride. Arrive at the ride during that timeframe, get on the FastPass+ queue and enjoy. Do I need to have a MagicBand ?

parade I received a letter from the library letting me know that they're starting their summer reading program again (stickers!). I know that doesn't really compare to taking a photo with an 18-year-old actress stuffed into a Simba costume, but I'm doing what I can. Is it about money? Not really, but at the same time, taking you to Disney would be me paying to be tortured, and I work too hard for that. Do you understand what I'm saying? I would rather experience an unmedicated vaginal birth to triplet full-sized porcupines than have to parent in what I feel like is an Anthropologie for kids; everything is beautiful, everything feels magical, but you leave the place with an overdrawn checking account. I know you like staying in hotels. We've done this before. Remember the road trip to great-grandma's place?
